1. What is a notary public?

2. What documents can a notary notarize?
Common documents include contracts, affidavits, powers of attorney, deeds, wills, adoption paperwork, acknowledgments, jurats (sworn statements) and school forms.

3. Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?

4. What do I need to bring?
You must bring a valid, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID) and the documents you need notarized. If witnesses are required, please have them appear and bring valid ID credential.

5. Can a notary notarize a document for someone who is not in the same state?
No. Notaries can only notarize documents in the state where they are commissioned.

6. Can I notarize my own documents?
No. Notaries cannot notarize their own signatures or documents in which they have a personal interest.

7. How much does a notary service cost?

8. Can you come to me (travel/mobile notary)?
Yes! We offer travel/mobile notary services for your convenience, including home, office, or public library or your favorite coffee shop.

9. Do you provide legal advice?
No. A notary cannot give legal advice or explain the contents of your document. We strictly verify identities and witness signatures.

10. How long does the notarization process take?
Most notarizations take only a few minutes per document, but time may vary depending on the number of signatures or complexity.

11. What if my document needs multiple signatures from different people?
We can notarize each signature individually, either in the same appointment or in separate sessions, depending on your needs.

12. Can documents be notarized electronically?
Some documents may be eligible for electronic notarization depending on state law and depending on the notary public. The Zen Peace ONLY notarizes documents in person.

13. What happens if I sign the document incorrectly?
Do not sign the document until a notary is present. If a signature is done incorrectly, we can advise on the correct way to redo it.
